The Main Hall (50' 0" x 25' 6")
This large airy room is the most used facility.
It is viewed here from the stage. Front
of Hall.
Situated to the front of the Hall is a tarmac surfaced car park with room for approximately 50 cars. There is also a flat grassed area which can accommodate a good sized marquee. One of these is erected at each annual Horticultural Show for the craft, domestic and artistic exhibitions, whilst the other exhibits, refreshments etc., are in the main hall and social room. An example of multiple use of the facilities. The Stage. (25' 6" x 20' 0") This has been used to present anything from "The Potting Shed", a one man play, to the Aber Valley Male Voice Choir. Local amateur dramatic groups have staged plays such as J B Priestly's "When we are Married", costume dramas and pantomimes. A new lighting sytem is being installed on the stage suitable for both dramatic productions and concerts. A public address system including a loop induction system for use with personal hearing aids has been installed. Front-of-house lights are controllable from the stage. The adjacent rear cloakroom and the under-stage room, have been found to be adequate for most costume changing requirements. However there is easy, external access to the other Changing/Committee Room if extra changing areas are needed. The Social Room. (37' 8" X 16' 4") This is the other main room in the building, often used for family parties with skittles etc.. It has hatches opening to the kitchen and to the bar, with separate access to the Changing/Committee Room and toilet with wheel-chair access. It is where the Parish Council and Horticultral Society hold their meetings. The Under-stage
Room. (22' 0" X 19' 0") This is a good sized room with access from the Main Hall
and from outside. It is suitable for the preparation of buffet
style or cold meals, with tea and coffee, which can be served
through large hatches to the Main Hall or to the Social Room.
For larger or hot meals, however, we recommend the kitchen
is used by outside caterers. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Whilst attempts have been made here to give a reasonably full description of what is on offer, no brochure such as this can describe all possibilities. Whilst it is probably apparent that the flexibility offered by the combination of rooms available can satisfy most requirements, enquirers are urged to discuss their plans in some detail over the telephone and we will be pleased to see what we can do to help. For example: Theatrical flats are available elsewhere in the village and users can decorate these to provide scenery on stage. We can supply names of outside caterers for any occasion. A badminton net is available, as are an indoor bowls mat, skittle alley, dartboard and table tennis tables. Although the car park is a good size, we can put you in touch with adjacent land owners to provide additional parking. For example for a Car Club rally. There is a playing field adjoining the Hall and we can put you in touch with the Parish Council who administer this independently. There is a small, children's playground to the rear of the Hall. A Pay-phone is available in the rear committee room. There is wheel-chair access and a toilet for the disabled. Above all, we would be pleased to arrange for someone to show you round so that you can check the facilities for suitability before making a booking. We are confident you will be impressed.
